At this point you’re probably tired of reading about fall. Yeah the leaves are beautiful, sure the food is amazing, and yes, sweaters are the most dope of all the seasonal trends, but that’s all so boring. Let’s be honest, sweaters are cool, but the best part of fall happens when the clothes come off. Get your mind into the gutter, I’m talking about cuddling!
Often cuddling gets a bad rap as something that is rather unsexy. People often connect it with hippies, those of the abstinence only sect, and clingy girlfriends. But I am here to tell you that, if you let it, cuddling can be the sexiest part of your physical affections. Lower that eyebrow and put on your softest and most comfortable pajamas, because cuddling is damn sexy.
I love to get my cuddle on all year long, but fall is simply the best time to snuggle up close with a person or a few people for some sensual touching. It’s chilly outside, so everyone is in doors. What else are you supposed to do, study? Clearly you’ve been watching too much Glee.
You may wonder, “If there’s no sex, then why is cuddling so sexy?”
Well, it’s really simple. Cuddling allows you to be closer than close with someone or a few people. It’s intimate in a way that the act of sex rarely is. Your mind is clear of that sex haze, which allows you to honestly experience closeness and a spark of physical connection that just sex doesn’t allow for.
Cuddling is one of those things that is enjoyable in a purely primal sense. Skin to skin contact is both psychologically and physiologically soothing. In a purely scientific sense, skin to skin touching helps create emotional bonding, reduces stress, and increases immune function. But, if we’re being honest, the best part of cuddling is just being that close and connected with someone.
Whether you’re in a relationship or not, spending time touching someone else is fun. The body is this amazingly complex, sensual and interesting instrument that we rarely explore fully. It’s warm, sweet, tasty, and it smells nice. Those are all things you’ll never notice until the only thing between you and someone else is a bit of sweat.
When cuddling, your hands are your best friends. For the whole of your life, your hands are the gateway to the physical sensations in the world. Let your fingers travel all over your cuddle partner’s or partners’ body. Touch and caress the whole thing. If you’re cuddling, this is the time to get close and stay close.
Now, I’ve said before cuddling is non-sexual and that’s the way I think it should be. Sex can happen anytime, anywhere, and for any reason. But cuddling is something that requires vulnerability. It requires that you allow someone to inhale the essence of you without the façade of daily life.
When you’re together with someone else, you can let your guard down. It’s a moment where everyone involved can just be a person and they can just live. All you have to do, in that moment, is listen to the rhythm of their body. Hear the beat of the heart and be soothed by the rise and fall of their chest. It’s really quite sweet and genuine.
Cuddling may not be the raucous love making that we normally talk about here. But it’s good time and even if you’re not sexually active, you can try it. So go strip down and get close, because tonight it’s going to 47F outside and it’s only getting colder. So why not make it hot inside?
