On Feb 25th a new bill passed through Virginia legislature changed the classification of a first trimester abortion so that it needs to be performed in a facility which conforms to hospital standards. If clinics can not rapidly update their facilites, 17 of the 21 statewide would be forced to close. These required changes are all cosmetic, including a clause that requires the facility have a parking space for every bed.

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has stated that he will sign the bill once it lands on his desk.
